My 3-day weekends seem to fly by so quickly and before I know it, it's Monday morning already. I suppose I shouldn't complain, considering the fact that Ian works 6-days a week now during busy season. His mandatory Saturdays are already taking a toll on us, especially him. Luckily by the time the baby is born, Ian's mandatory Saturdays will be a thing of the past. It's a small trade off for the traveling he was doing with KPMG. I'm so relieved he switched firms, for so many reasons. I think this move has been a step in the right direction in terms of Ian's overall career plans. He's gaining valuable experience, especially with federal tax. Soon enough he will be an expert in state & local tax, as well as federal tax. It's not like he needs any additional credentials, as he is an attorney and a CPA, but every little bit helps, right? Speaking of Ian, he's in Fort Lauderdale for the day, which is fine with me because I know he will be home tonight. As for me, work is going well. I finally feel comfortable in my position and I feel like I'm beginning to fulfill the obligations in my job description. Before I know it though, I will be out on maternity leave, so I'm trying to make the most of my time at work. Okay, that's enough about work...
We have been cleaning and organizing around the house in preparation for the baby. This past weekend we cleaned and organized our bedroom and bathroom, which involved throwing out a lot of unused junk. We had two garbage bags full of expired OTC medicines and just useless junk we had underneath each of our sinks. We need to recaulk the shower and counter tops in our bathroom because this is a new house and things are still settling. The builder recommended recaulking every year to prevent any leaks, however it may occur every other year instead. This weekend, I'm hoping to tackle cleaning the entire house, top to bottom. I have discovered that a drawback to having a big house is having to clean it. We need to paint the baby's room because I am not happy with the current color. I originally thought the color would work, but I'm having second thoughts. I'm quite certain that a pale pink will work much better with the nursery furniture and bedding. And for the record, I will not be painting (for once), as I think we're going to hire someone to complete the job in a timely manner. Our next big project will be the nursery and I'm really looking forward to it!
As far as the baby goes... I've entered the 3rd trimester and the two of us are doing great! We had a 3-D ultrasound last weekend and it was really fun. We were able to see her move around in my belly and finally see her little face. Oh my goodness, that child has the chubbiest cheeks! I cannot wait to get my hands on them! Everything looked good on the U/S and it's hard to believe how big she has gotten. We only have 12 weeks left until we get to meet her and we cannot wait! On a side note, I failed my 1-hour glucose test at the OBGYN's office and went yesterday for the 3-hour glucose test. I'm quite certain that I will pass this test and will not have gestational diabetes. My blood sugar level was 140, an hour after eating breakfast, drinking a regular coke and drinking the glucose drink. The "normal" blood sugar should have been 130. I see the OBGYN on the 29th and I'll probably receive my results then. Other than that... Baby Lasher and I are doing just great! My appointments are now every 3 weeks, instead of every 4 weeks. The doctor told me she felt comfortable seeing me every 3 weeks, instead of the typical every 2 weeks because I haven't had an complications and my pregnancy is going very well. Hurry up April 16th!!!
Next weekend Lisa and Jenn will be hosting a baby shower in my honor. I'm so lucky to have such great friends here in Tampa. The invitations were absolutely beautiful, so I can't imagine what the two of them have planned for the actual shower. It will be nice to see my friends and family and celebrate the arrival of Baby Lasher! Dawn and Stephanie will be traveling from Baltimore to attend the shower. I'm so lucky to have such great friends! My family has begun planning a baby shower for me in Baltimore in February. Again, I'm so lucky to have such great friends and family, even if they are 1,000 miles away!
I suppose that pretty much sums up the last month or so... the next three months will be super busy, but I will continue to post to ensure our blog is up to date. Stay tuned, boys and girls!
Love always,
Ian & Kim
